This page explains the cookies and similar browser storage technologies goflyacademy.com uses, split into the two categories that actually matter: things the Site needs to function, and advertising cookies set by Google.
Strictly Necessary & Functional
These are set by our own code and don't track you across other sites.
- Admin session cookie — used only when our staff log into the content admin area. Not set for regular visitors.
- Comment name (browser storage)— remembers the name you last typed into the blog comment form, so you don't have to retype it.
- Anonymous like ID (browser storage)— a random ID used only to prevent liking the same blog post more than once. It's not linked to your identity.
- Contact-widget dismissal (browser storage)— remembers, for your current browser session only, that you closed the “Send a Message” popup so it doesn't reappear.
Advertising (Google Ads)
We run Google Ads campaigns and use Google's conversion tracking to measure their effectiveness. This loads Google's gtag.js script, which can set cookies such as _gcl_au, _gac_*, and DoubleClick's IDE and test_cookie. These are used to measure ad performance and, depending on your Google account settings, may be used for interest-based advertising. Third-Party Embeds
Our Schedule pageembeds Acuity Scheduling, which may set its own cookies to run the booking calendar. Our “Apply” and “Book Discovery Flight” buttons link out to JotForm and FlightSchedulePro respectively — once you're on those sites, their own cookie practices apply.
How to Control Cookies
You can manage or block cookies through:
- Your browser's privacy settings (most browsers let you block third-party cookies or clear cookies for a specific site).
- Google Ad Settings to opt out of personalized Google advertising.
- The Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page to opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies.
Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the Site work, such as remembering your comment name or the tour-booking widget.
